Little update on little Autumn

Hey guys, I just wanted to give everyone a quick update on Sharaze and Autumn's status as of week 28! As some of you know, things are going mostly fine but there are a couple of issues we're watching right now.

The first thing is that Autumn is growing, but a little too slowly due to a 2 vessel umbilical cord. Normally there are 2 arterys and one vein in an umbilical cord, but we've got one artery and one vein. So Autumn is getting a little less blood than is normal. What this means is that she's growing, just kinda slowly. She probably wasn't going to be a big baby in the first place considering Sharaze's size, but now she's almost certainly going to be on the small side of things. Which is just fine by Sharaze. No 8 or 10 pound babies here!

The other thing is that after coming back from our trip to Colorado, we found out that Sharaze's amniotic fluid is getting a bit low for some reason. So because of this, the doctors are monitoring her weekly now since this is a bit more serious issue. If the fluid gets too low it will put Autumn in danger. It's not to that point yet, but they've got Sharaze on a serious hydration regimen and she's having to take it pretty easy from here on. We'll find out this Friday when she goes in again how the fluid level is doing. So everyone should be praying that things will stabilize or that the fluid levels will rise back to normal. We want Autumn to stay in that tummy for as long as she can and grow as much as she can!

All these issues basically boil down to an increased chance of Autumn being born early. Her proper due date is June 4, but we're hoping that she'll at least stay in there until May at the earliest. If we can just make it through March and April that would be great.

And just so things don't sound too serious or dire, I will tell you that she is a kicking and moving little girl so far! In fact, she's so active lately that Sharaze sometimes is in a little bit of pain due to her kicks and rolls. So that's very good!

And as for that picture up there, that was from a week ago. Sorry it's pretty blurry, but you can make out her face pretty well. And we're hoping that stuff on top of her head is hair. That would rock!
